Governor David A. Paterson of New York has apparently decided that Ashley Dupre, the prostitute responsible for bringing down  former governor Elliot Spitzer is the appropriate choice to represent the state of New York as a replacement for Hillary Clinton. Clinton is leaving the senate after accepting the Secretary of State position in Obama’s cabinet. Patterson is quoted as saying:

“New Yorkers haven’t been getting their fair share of federal dollars, and Dupre’s reputation is one that suggests she won’t settle for chump change.”

Patterson also said “she sounded pretty hot over the phone too.”

Senate leaders who initially said they would object to her appointment, based on her apparent lack of qualifications quickly changed their opinions after several private consultations with Dupre, who coincidentally expects to get a “preferred office suite” that is close the the majority leader’s office.  Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid refuses to comment, and has reportedly started working out.
